Episode 81: Tracy Fober At Home Movement Based Fitness

April 9, 2020
Coach, Mentor, Physical Therapist Tracy Fober works out of her private practice, Iron Maven Performance Health, in Park City, Utah. She works with a range of athletes — high school, college, professional, and active older adults. For four years leading into the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeonchang, South Korea she worked with US Ski & Snowboard.

Tracy is dedicated to teaching people how to move for performance and health. She promotes the concept of physical health for life and sport, integrating knowledge and practical experience from the fields of exercise science, rehabilitation and the sport of weightlifting.

You can follow Tracy and her work on Instagram, Twitter, her blog, and a new podcast Physio and the Art of Human Performance.

In the episode we talk about not compromising while training at home during Covid-19 shelter in place, movement based strength, aging, women in coaching, speaking out, worries regarding the coronavirus pandemic, simplicity, avoiding Covid-15, worries for her athletes, and some hope for what we can learn from this pandemic.

It’s always hard to get trainers to talk specifics for understandable reasons. In a conversation like this one with Tracy, she doesn’t know what knowledge and experience listeners have. There’s no one routine that fits everyone. However, Tracy did provide lots of resources, which are linked below. She also talks about basic principles that will get you thinking about how to proceed with creating an at-home workout for your needs. And if you listen carefully, there are a few key exercises mentioned, many of which are what I do myself in my own little workout space.
