Woot! Another superstar woman this week on the podcast!

For many weeks this summer, I watched the US women’s soccer team play in the World Cup. (Probably like you and so many others did, male and female!)

Those players were just so good, so much better than the others. Mostly, I felt they were on another plane. Even while watching I sensed something else, something other than their incredible playing ability. They seemed more ready for everything the long World Cup tournament is, more solidly confident in their preparation. I was hypothesizing at the time, but talking to this week’s guest, I suspect my guess is close to the truth.

This weeks’s guest has much to do with the US Women’s Soccer Team’s rock solid preparation. High Performance Coach, Dawn Scott, has been involved with the women’s team for nine and a half years and as you will hear gets into daily details from lavender to hydration to individual player load each training session and game.

I was particularly interested in talking to Dawn about how she incorporated the science behind menstrual cycle into the US Women’s Soccer team’s training. I highly recommend the FitrWoman app Dawn talks about in the episode. With FitrWoman you can track your own cycle, learn more about the four phases of the menstrual cycle and about what the impact each of those phases has on performance. I’ve always struggled with PMS so the app has been a great way to take advantage of the strong moments in the month rather than simply be frustrated with the lows.

In the episode, Dawn also talks about her daily work with the women’s soccer team, strength training, and what’s next for the players as we head towards Tokyo2020 Olympics.
