Episode 64: Haylie McCleney 24/7 Focus on Tokyo2020
This week I’m talking to Haylie Mc Cleney, a super-rockstar professional softball player! This is her sixth season competing with the USA Softball Team. And now that softball is back in the Olympics she is working 24/7 to make the Tokyo2020 roster.
I will admit that initially I didn’t know any of that! Can you imagine? I contacted her because she writes smart, thoughtful, well-considered blog posts about strength training. I love talking weight training so this episode is a double treat for me.
Haylie is a 4-Time All-American at The University of Alabama, where she majored in Human Performance and Exercise Science. Earned a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from Florida Atlantic University in 2018.
As a professional softball player, Haylie has been with the USSSA Pride and Texas Charge in the National Pro Fastpitch league and last summer was a member of the independent ScrapYard Fastpitch organization based out of Houston, TX.
As a member of the US National Softball team, she is a 2016 & 2018 world champion and 2017 Pan-American Games Silver Medalist.
She is such a badass because in addition to all of those stellar accomplishments Haylie also works full time as a Strength Coach at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida.
This episode is part of a 3-episode series with coaches. All three women are quite different with different roles in their sports, so stay tuned and subscribe to Hear Her Sports wherever you find your podcasts.
